Après-Ski at Home: How to Host an Après Party at Your Steamboat Rental

Après-ski is the best part of a ski day for a lot of people: boots off, drinks out, music on. If you’re in Steamboat with a group, hosting your own après at the rental means no waiting for a table and a party that’s all yours.

When to start

Start soon after the lifts close, when the group is coming off the mountain. Two hours is plenty for most groups. It sets up dinner without taking over the whole night.

What you need

  • Space: a living room, great room or covered deck.
  • Food: easy snacks that don’t need a host in the kitchen.
  • Drinks: pick up supplies in town before your first ski day.
  • Music: a playlist on a speaker works. A DJ reading the room turns it into an event.

Make it an event

A live DJ brings professional sound, builds the energy as people arrive and keeps the music matched to the room. Lighting turns a living room into a dance floor once the sun goes down.

Mind the neighbors

Many rentals and HOAs set quiet hours. Keep the speakers to the early evening, or switch to a silent disco when quiet hours start, so the party can keep going without the noise.

What it costs

Will Peddie’s Après Party package is $500 for up to 2 hours with professional sound and a playlist built around your group. The Full Night In package is $900 for up to 4 hours with dance floor lighting and live requests. Prefer to run your own playlist? The House Party Kit rents for $437 a night: two pro speakers, a light show and stands, delivered and set up (delivery quoted by location).

See all the packages on the Après-Ski & Vacation Party page, or check your dates.
